Dr. Shapiro received her medical degree in family medicine from the Medical College of Pennsylvania in 1989. She also has over 25 years of experience working with western herbs and over 10 years experience with Chinese herbs and acupuncture. Her herbal and acupuncture training includes completion of coursework with Ted Kaptchuk, Jeffrey Yuen, Sharon Weizenbaum, Billie Potts and the UCLA Medical Acupuncture for Physicians program. Dr. Shapiro is a certified orthobionomy practitioner and a member of the American Academy of Osteopathy.
A popular speaker and lecturer, Dr. Shapiro has appeared at numerous conferences and panel seminars. She was a core faculty member of Columbia University's Botanical Medicine in Modern Clinical Practice conference for the past 6 years and has lectured widely. Dr. Shapiro regularly researches and writes about current approaches to alternative medicine and has authored chapters and articles for medical textbooks and popular health magazines. She is presently an adjunct faculty member at UCSF School of Medicine.
Marcey Shapiro has had a passion for herbs since her adolescence and is eager to see them responsibly reincorporated into conventional medicine.
